Focus and Scope

Fundamental and Applied Research in Medicine and Allied Sciences Indonesia (FARMASI) contains research articles and conceptual studies related to various aspects of pharmacy and pharmaceutical sciences. The main topics usually covered include:

1. Clinical and Community Pharmacy
   Studies on patient-centered pharmacy practice in hospitals, clinics, and community pharmacies. Topics include drug use review, patient counseling and education, medication therapy management, pharmacovigilance, adverse drug reactions, and optimizing drug therapy.

2. Pharmaceutics and Pharmaceutical Technology
   Research on the formulation, development, characterization, and evaluation of pharmaceutical dosage forms, including conventional and innovative drug delivery systems. Topics include formulation and stability, controlled-release systems, biopharmaceutics, drug dissolution, nanoparticles, and topical and parenteral dosage forms.

3. Pharmacology and Toxicology
   Studies examining the mechanisms of drug action, pharmacodynamic and pharmacokinetic effects, drug interactions, and the toxicological effects of drugs, chemicals, and bioactive compounds. Topics include biological activity, mechanisms of action, adverse effects, acute and chronic toxicity, and food-drug interactions.

4. Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Pharmaceutical Analysis
   Research involving the synthesis and characterization of active pharmaceutical compounds, analysis of pharmaceutical materials, and development and validation of analytical methods. Topics include spectrophotometry, chromatography, analytical method validation, and quality testing of raw materials and finished pharmaceutical products.

5. Pharmacognosy and Phytochemistry
   Studies focusing on natural products and medicinal plants as sources of pharmaceutical agents. Topics include medicinal plants, herbal products, isolation and identification of natural compounds, phytochemical analysis, biological activity testing, standardization of herbal extracts, and development of phytopharmaceuticals.

6. Pharmaceutical Biotechnology
   Research concerning the application of biotechnology in pharmaceutical development and healthcare. Topics include recombinant protein production, vaccines, monoclonal antibodies, biosimilars, RNA- and DNA-based therapies, immunotherapy, gene therapy, and cellular pharmaceutical products.

7. Pharmaceutical Management and Policy
   Studies related to pharmaceutical management, regulatory systems, public policy, and the distribution and utilization of medicines within healthcare systems. Topics include pharmaceutical supply chains, drug distribution and logistics, essential medicines policies, pharmacoeconomics, drug cost analysis, and the role of pharmacists in the National Health Insurance (JKN) system.

8. Pharmacy Education and the Profession
   Research on pharmacy education, curriculum development, professional competencies, ethics, and the development of pharmacy practice. Topics include innovations in pharmacy education, pharmacist competency development, professional ethics, pharmacy practice, and interprofessional collaboration.

9. Multidisciplinary Research Related to Pharmacy
   Other interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary studies that contribute to the development of pharmacy and pharmaceutical sciences, including research connecting pharmacy with medicine, health sciences, biotechnology, chemistry, technology, public health, and other related fields.

This journal aims to disseminate original research results, review articles, and conceptual studies that contribute to the advancement of pharmaceutical sciences, pharmacy practice, healthcare, and pharmaceutical technology. Articles published may take the form of empirical studies, experimental research, conceptual studies, literature reviews, case studies, or evaluations of pharmaceutical practices and innovations.
