Correction and Retraction Policy for FARMASI

Fundamental and Applied Research in Medicine and Allied Sciences Indonesia (FARMASI) is committed to maintaining the integrity, accuracy, transparency, and reliability of the scholarly record in pharmacy and allied sciences. Corrections, retractions, and withdrawals are handled in accordance with the guidelines and principles of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

1. Correction

• Corrections are issued when errors are identified in a published article, such as typographical mistakes, inaccurate information, errors in data presentation, or incorrect author information, which may affect the clarity or understanding of the article but do not invalidate its main findings or conclusions.

• Correction requests may be submitted by authors, readers, reviewers, or editors after publication.

• Upon verification and editorial assessment, FARMASI will publish an official correction notice linked to the original article to maintain transparency and accuracy of the scientific record.

• Minor errors that do not affect the meaning, findings, or interpretation of the article may be corrected directly without issuing a formal correction notice.

• The purpose of a correction is to amend the published record while preserving the integrity and accessibility of the original research.

2. Retraction

• Retraction of an article may occur when serious errors are identified that substantially affect the validity or reliability of the research findings, or when ethical violations such as plagiarism, fabrication, falsification, duplicate publication, or unethical research practices are confirmed.

• The retraction process follows the guidelines and principles of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and may involve an investigation by the Editorial Board and, where necessary, the authors’ affiliated institutions or other relevant parties.

• Retractions will be clearly announced through an official retraction notice explaining the reasons for the action and linked to the original article.

• Retracted articles will remain accessible in the journal archive with a prominent retraction notice to ensure transparency and prevent readers from treating the findings as valid scientific evidence.

• Retraction is intended to correct the scientific record and alert readers to unreliable findings or serious ethical concerns without unnecessarily removing the original publication from the archive.

3. Handling Procedure

• Suspected errors, research misconduct, or ethical violations may be reported by authors, readers, reviewers, editors, or other relevant parties.

• The Editorial Office will conduct an initial assessment of the reported issue and may request clarification, supporting evidence, or explanations from the authors.

• When necessary, the journal may conduct a more detailed investigation and communicate with the authors’ affiliated institutions or other appropriate authorities.

• If the issue is confirmed, the journal will determine the appropriate action, which may include correction, expression of concern, withdrawal, or retraction, depending on the severity and nature of the issue.

• In cases of disputes, disagreements, or unresolved concerns, FARMASI will follow applicable COPE guidelines to ensure a fair, objective, and transparent resolution.

4. Responsibilities of All Parties

• Authors are responsible for the accuracy, originality, integrity, and ethical conduct of their research and for promptly reporting significant errors discovered after publication.

• Editors and the Editorial Board are responsible for investigating reported concerns objectively and taking appropriate corrective action when necessary.

• Reviewers should report suspected errors, plagiarism, ethical concerns, or other potential violations identified during the review process to the editor.

• The Journal and Publisher are committed to preserving an accurate, transparent, and trustworthy scientific record by providing clear mechanisms for correction, withdrawal, and retraction.
